The Snowbird Inn, located at the base of the Summit Chair opposite the Ski and Snowsports School, offers the convenience of true ski-in ski-out facilities that most others claim but cannot compare. Whilst the building is
older style with modest facilities, the accommodation is clean and comfortable and consists of 24 dormitory
style bunkrooms ranging from 4 to 8 share, all with their own private ensuite. The lodge has been redesigned especially for student groups and offers affordable packages all season long in the best 5 star location. |

| Tasmanian Interschools 2008 |
The Tasmanian Interschools in 2007 was introduced in the first week of the September school holidays to provide a competitive edge to the awareness of snow sports for Tasmanian Secondary Students. The event commenced on the Wednesday evening under lights under the Big D ski lift with an alpine style gates course for skiers and snowboarders and was graded into the following categories:
This allowed C Grade Skiers and Snowboarders 3 days to develop skills to take on the challenge of ski or snowboard racing.
141 competitors braved the elements on a below freezing evening at the Big D and all those that competed got a real buzz out of the thrill of competition. Those not so brave to compete cheered for their mates and jeered for their cross town rivals. On the Thursday afternoon the event continued with a skier and boarder cross set with gates, jumps and funnels for skiers and snowboarders once again graded into the categories above. All skiers and boarders were allocated one run and the event was free for anybody who wanted to compete however each student is required to complete a waiver form and have it signed by a parent or guardian. Both events were timed and each competitor competed not only for personal glory but as a part of a team to decide the overall best school.
The best school is decided by the combined time of the top three skiers and boarders from each category.

In 2008 all those schools that competed last year are anxious to return but we have also had interest from at least 4 other schools.
If you believe that your school would like to compete in this fantastic event in 2008 please contact:
Martin Culyer on 1800 659 009 for further information and quotation. |
